Summary: The album contains twelve tracks – all
co-written by Perry. This is her third studio album. The tracks from this album
include:Teenage Dream The One That Got Away
Last Friday Night (T. G. I. F.) E. T.
California Gurls Who Am I Living For?
Firework Pearl
Peacock Hummingbird
Circle the Drain Not Like the Movies
Critical Evaluation: Teenage
Dream debuted at
Number One on the Billboard charts and has been certified platinum twice. Six
of the twelve tracks reached Number One, with two reaching Two and Three,
respectively. Perry is the first female in the history of the charts (second
overall behind Michael Jackson) to have at least five Number One hits from the
same album.
Listener’s Annotation: This is a fun album. The tracks range
from the bouncy party song “Last Friday Night (T. G. I. F.)” to the strong and
empowering “Firework.”
Artist Information: Katy Perry was born in 1984. She
started singing Gospel music; both of her parents were pastors.
She has been
nominated for eight Grammy Awards, but has failed to win any. The public loves
Perry as can be exhibited from her choice awards wins: Eight People’s Choice
Awards and five Teen Choice Awards. Genre: Pop; Rock; Dance
Reason for Item’s Inclusion: For one album to have so many hits is
pretty amazing. The songs don’t sound like each other; there is quite a bit of
variety. You can’t help but sing to these songs.
